When Richard Wagner arrived at his villa in Passy, Rossini entertained his guest with amiable conversations.
However, from time to time Rossini left the room to disappear for a few minutes, only to return as if nothing had happened.
When Wagner asked Rossini if there was any problem, Rossini replied: “Forgive me, but I have a roe deer loin on the stove that needs constant moisture”.
This year we celebrate the 150th anniversary of the death of the great composer Gioachino Rossini and the Rossini Year.
I had the pleasure to work on this illustration for an event in the city of Alghero 🙂
